Our Australian volunteer Maurice
Our Australian volunteer Maurice, together with the New Dawn team, delivered support to a family in Nerubaiske, Odesa region, whose home was destroyed by a missile strike in July 2026.
The house was home to Marina and her 10-year-old daughter, Daria. The strike happened during the day and, fortunately, they were not at home at the time. When they returned, almost nothing remained of their house or the life they had known.
Together with Maurice, our team delivered construction materials for urgent repairs, as well as essential household items, clothing and shoes, hygiene supplies, school materials, and furniture for Daria — so that she can once again have her own place to study, read, dream, and simply be a child.
We cannot restore everything that was lost or erase the fear this family has experienced. But we can stand beside them, offer practical support, and help them take another step from tragedy toward recovery.
It is especially meaningful to have Maurice, who came to Ukraine from Australia, working side by side with our team and personally supporting Ukrainian families affected by the war.
May there be light in this home again. May Daria be able to study peacefully and dream about her future, and may Marina know that they are not alone.
Because even after the darkest days, there must always be room for hope. 💙💛
